History of the Warrant of CXI

The original Warrant of CXI was issued at Carlow, Republic of Ireland, in 1739 but it lapsed in 1814. Masonic Lodge of Harmony CXI, Belfast, Northern Ireland, was granted the warrant in 1817.

Lodge of Harmony was originally warranted as 861 in 1798 but this was exchanged for CXI in 1817. In these times, it was said that there was a church parade in which the lodges marched to the venue in Lodge numerical order, thus it was every lodge's ambition to get nearer the head of the parade - hence the change of warrant in 1817! In 1883, Lodge of Harmony, CXI, had the privilege of conducting a stall in the Great Bazaar held in the Ulster Hall, Belfast. A complete history of Masonic Lodge of Harmony can be read here

During these last 193 years the Lodge of Harmony, CXI has come to be affectionately known to Lodge Brethren in particular, and to local Freemasonry in general, as "YIN-YIN-YIN" ('yin' being Ulster-Scots for one).

St.Andrew Masonic Lodge of Harmony 111 was formed in May 2009 by the amalgamation of Masonic Lodge of Harmony 111 and St.Andrew Masonic Lodge 469. This amalgamation took place due to falling numbers in both lodges. Note that the current logo has the original logo of Masonic lodge of Harmony 111 with a background of the Scottish Saltire - the flag of St.Andrew.

The new lodge has begun life with a very healthy membership.

The original warrant of St.Andrew Masonic Lodge was issued in Coagh, Co.Tyrone, Northern Ireland where It remained until 1805. From 1807 until1859 it was in Cookstown, Co.Tyrone, Northern Ireland.. From 1882 to 1890 it was in Wellington, New Zealand and finally in 1919 it was issued to St.Andrew 469 in Belfast.
